Question 786252: It's telling me to graph each function and identify the domain and range. I need help how to graph it and to find the domain and range. Thanks!
f(x)=|x-5|
Answer by xinxin(76) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! It is easy to find the range of |x-5| because by definition, absolute value of a number is equal to 0 or > 0. Thus f(x) ≥ 0
To graph the function, I would rewrite it as f(x)= x-5 and f(x) = -(x-5), and then draw the two linear lines using the same x- and y-axis. Next I would erase parts of graphs that are in y≤0 range. The domain is -∞,∞.
Some may suggest that you choose several points to graph an absolute-value function, I think this can be time-consuming especially when you chose wrong points.
