9x=7%28x-2%29 Start with the given equation.


9x=7x-14 Distribute.


9x-7x=-14 Subtract 7x from both sides.


2x=-14 Combine like terms on the left side.


x=%28-14%29%2F%282%29 Divide both sides by 2 to isolate x.


x=-7 Reduce.
