is this supposed to be -2x^3 + 14x^2 - 24x + 20 ?
I am guessing it is, if not, repost., so solving -2x^3 + 14x^2 - 24x + 20, the 2nd term of the binomial has to be a factor of 20, answer can not be c. (x - 24, 24 not factor of 20) or b. (x + 20, 20 too large), use synthetic division:
.................-2x^2 + 24x - 144
x + 5 --> -2x^3 + 14x^2 - 24x + 20
..........-2x^3 - 10x^2
..................24x^2 - 24x
..................24x^2 + 120x
........................- 144x + 20 --> x + 5 not gonna work, trying x - 5:
.................-2x^2 + 4x - 4
x - 5 --> -2x^3 + 14x^2 - 24x + 20
..........-2x^3 + 10x^2
...................4x^2 - 24x
...................4x^2 - 20x
....................... - 4x + 20
