Question 33518This question is from textbook
: I am trying to simplify the sum of 5x/(x^2-x-6) and 4/(x^2+4*x+4). Please help. This question is from textbook
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Factor the denominators
Common denominator is : (x-3)(x+2)(x+2)
Distribute the 5x and 4 across in the numerators
Add the numerators
Since the numerator DOES NOT factor .... you are done
You can put this solution on YOUR website! the answer given by the other tutor went wrong in the second fraction. They had (x+3) added. It should have been (x-3): or vice versa, i cannot remember... So that the denominators matched, so that the 2 fractions could be added.
Correct it yourself and work through the new algebra, to see what you get.
