Question 118156: I know this may not be the right topic for the problem but i guessed.
which is a solution of the system? -2x+y less than and equal to 8
x-3y greater 9
a. (0,-3)
b. (0,9)
c. both a and b
d. neither a nor b
Answer by ilana(307) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! For a, x=0 and y=-3. For b, x=0 and y=9. So you need to plug in each pair and see which makes both inequalities true.
For a, -2x+y = 0-3 = -3. This is less than or equal to 8, so that one works.
Again for a, x-3y = 0+9 = 9, which is not greater than 9. So a does not work.
For b, -2x+y = 0+9 = 9, which is not less than or equal to 8, so b already fails.
So the answer is d, neither will work.
