You can put this solution on YOUR website!
It would help using the built in formula graphics on this website:
+y=+sqrt%284x%29%2B6+
Step 1: Replace the x and y
+x=sqrt%284y%29%2B6+
Step 2: Do algebra (subtract 6)
+x-6+=+sqrt%284y%29+
Step 2: Do algebra (square both sides)
+%28x-6%29%5E2+=+4y+
Step 2: Do algebra (divide by 4 both sides)
+%28x-6%29%5E2%2F4+=+y+
Step 3: Clean up your function
+y=+%28x-6%29%5E2%2F4+
Original Function: +y=+sqrt%284x%29%2B6+
Inverse Function: +y=+%28x-6%29%5E2%2F4+
We are not done yet. This new inverse function requires a domain restriction, as seen on the graph below.
.
The domain restriction is such that x is greater than or equal to 6 (We can tell easily just by looking at the equation of the function)
Thus, the inverse of +y=+sqrt%284x%29%2B6+ is
+y=+%28x-6%29%5E2%2F4+ l {x is greater than or equal to 6}
(Note: The bar in between the function and the domain restriction means such that.)
