Question 847395: Water is flowing out of a garden hose at a rate of 10 gallons per minute into a circular swimming pool that has a diameter of 16ft. How fast is the water rising in the pool in inches per minute? Hint: The area of a circle is A=πr^2
I'm not sure how to approach this problem, I can find the area but I do not understand how I can convert the rate.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Water is flowing out of a garden hose at a rate of 10 gallons per minute into a circular swimming pool that has a diameter of 16ft.
How fast is the water rising in the pool in inches per minute?
:
Find the vol of water in 1 inch of the pool, convert that to gallons
r = 8'. Convert 1 in to 1/12 ft. One cu/ft = 7.481 gal
V = pi%2A8%5E2%2A%281%2F12%29+%2A+7.481
V = 125.34 gal in 1 inch of the pool
:
This would be in min/inch
125.34%2F10 = 12.5 min per inch
