"Inversely proportional" in mathematical terms means
"number of men * number of days" is a constant - which is the time taken for ONE person to complete the work.

So, ONE man can cut the log in 10+%2A+4 = 40 days.
Now if there were 8 men, they would complete the work in: 40+%2F+8 = 5 days
