You can put this solution on YOUR website! 1.Two cars start from the same point at the same time and travel in opposite directions. The faster car travels 12 miles per hour faster than the other. If after six hours, the cars are 648 kilometers apart, what is the speed of each car?
--------
Are you sure it's mph and kilometers?
2. Two ships leave North Harbor and sail in opposite directions. if the faster ship travels at a rate of 42 kph and the slower ship sails at a rate of 34kph, in how many hours will the two ships be 190 kilometers apart?
Going in opposite directions the rates are added.
42+34 = 76 kph
190/76 = 2.5 hours.
-----------------
Ships don't use kph, they use knots. The people that write the textbooks don't seem to know much.
