Question 1169485: (a) A tank is filled by an intake pipe in 2 hours and emptied by an outlet pipe in 4 hours. If both pipes are opened, how long will it take to fill the tank?
(b) Before the pandemic, Ana can sanitize their room in 45 minutes and Clair can do the same work in 30 minutes. How long it take them to finish the same work if they work together? Found 2 solutions by ikleyn, Edwin McCravy:Answer by ikleyn(52754) (Show Source):
The intake pipe puts liquid in twice as fast as the outlet pipe takes liquid
out. So when both pipes are opened, in 2 hours it'll be half full, so it'll
be full in 4 hours.
