You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let +s+ = Pablo's speed in mi/hr
+2s+ = Jose's speed in mi/hr
Let +t+ = Jose's time to
travel 96 miles
--------------------------------
Jose's equation:
(1) +96+=+2s%2At+
Pablo's equation:
(2) +96+=+s%2A%28+t+%2B+3+%29+
-------------------------------
(1) +t+=+96%2F%282s%29+
Plug this into (2)
(2) +96+=+s%2A%28+96%2F%282s%29+%2B+3+%29+
(2) +96+=+s%2A%28+48%2Fs+%2B+3+%29+
(2) +96+=+48+%2B+3s+
(2) +3s+=+48+
(2) +s+=+16+
Pablo can ride his bike at 16 mi/hr
-----------------------------------------
check:
(1) +96+=+2s%2At+
(1) +96+=+2%2A16%2At+
(1) +96+=+32t+
(1) +t+=+3+ hrs
and
(2) +96+=+s%2A%28+t+%2B+3+%29+
(2) +96+=+16%2A%28+t+%2B+3+%29+
(2) +6+=+t+%2B+3+
(2) +t+=+3+ hrs
OK

Jose can drive 2 times as fast as Pablo can ride his bicycle. If it takes Pablo 3 hours longer than Jose to travel 96 miles,Pablo can ride his bicycle
let Pablo ride his bicycle at x mph
Jose's speed is 2x
Time taken by Pablo - time taken by Jose = 3 hours
96%2Fx+-+96%2F2x+=3
simplify
(96*2-96)/2x = 3
96= 6x
x= 16 mph Pablo's speed
