You can put this solution on YOUR website!
One employee would take 4 times as long to
wash the same number of cars, so
1 employee washes 20 cars in 20 hrs
1/4 = 5/20
---------------------------------------
5 times as many employees only need 1/5 of
that time to wash the same number of cars. so
5 employees wash 20 cars in 4 hrs
5/1 = 4/20
------------------------------------

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Rate for 1 employee, r cars per hours
unknown time for five employees of the question, x hours

Basic formula Rt=q
R for rate
t for time
q for amount done

                    RATE TIME QUANTITY CARS
FOUR EMPLOYEES 4r 5 20
FIVE EMPLOYEES 5r x 20

Both groups wash the same quantity of cars.

Same factor, r, on both sides

4%2A5=5x
