You can put this solution on YOUR website! formula to use if r * p * t = q
r = rate that each person works at.
p = the number of people working.
t is the time
q is the quantity of work produced.
you are given that the number of persons is 10 and the time is 5 days and the quantity of work produced is 1 painted house.
the formula becomes r * 10 * 5 = 1
solve for r to get r = 1/50
that means that each person can paint an average of 1/50 of the house per day.
in 5 days, each person can paint 5/50 of the house.
10 people can therefore paint 50/50 of the hour = 1 house.
if you use 7 people, then the formula becomes 1/50 * 7 * 5 = .7
7 tenths of the house can be painted in 5 days if you only have 7 people painting.
