(x^2-64)/(5x) * (10x^2)/(x+8)
1. what i thought to do is factor the denomanator so it would be (x+8)(x-8)/(5x) * (10x^2)/(x+8) then the two x + 8's cancel out....once u have the final answer as (x-8)/(5x) * (10x^2)/1---do u just multiply?? and how do u multiply??

Question 51600: 2√ [48] + √[27] - 5√[12]
I first looked at 2√[48]which tells me it's the square root of 48 so I then broke 48 down into factors.
48 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 3
I took out 2 * 2 = 4 and left 3 under the radical sign 4√[3]
I the did the same for √[27] following the same steps and I got 3√[3]. where my problem comes in is when I get to 5√[12] how do I break this down. I also wanted to know am I doing this correctly. PLease point me in the right direction. I am having troubles seeing how to break these down.

Question 51696: Hi,

I've been working on this problem for a while, and am still getting an answer than doesn't work when I check/proof it. Here's how I've been trying to solve it:

5(3 - 2x) = 4(4x + 20) or
15 - 10x = 16x + 80 or
-65 = 26x or
x = -65/26

and then to proof
5(3 - 2(-65/26)) = 4(4-65/26)+ 20) or
5(78/26 - 130/26) = 4(260/26 + 520/26) or
-260/26 = 3120

The problem is:

"5(3 - 2x) = 4(4x + 20)"

It looks so simple... what am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
~ Jasmine

I think you add the exponents 3/2+1/2-1/2 which equals 3/2
Then add 3p + 9p + 6p which equals 18p
18p^3/2 = sq root of 18p raised to the 3rd power
I broke it down to(3*sq root of 2) raised to the 3rd power. I hope i am typing this right. Please help from here.
