Question 151983: I am not getting the answers that are provided for me for the following equation...
fourth root √36 √5
how would you simplify
I started by multiplying fourth root √36 by 1/4 and I got √9 so √9 X √5 = √45
√45= √9 √5= 3√5
thats not an option for me, what am I doing wrong?

Here's the problem...The average (mean) cost for a service club to publish a directory of its members is given by the rational function f(x)=1.15x+700 over x where x is the number of directories printed. Find the average cost per directory for x=1000.
I just can't figure this one out!

Question 152379: I am working on this problem and I just need to know if I did it right.
I'm suppose to simplify each expression an if an expression can't be simplified, write "does not simplify.
The problem is 2x^2+2x-12 over x^3+3x^2-4x-12
This is what I did
Factored to 2(x^2+x-6)
Factored to 2(x^2+3x-2x-6)
Factored to 2(x(x+3)-2(x+3))
Factored to 2(x+3)(x-2) also common denominator
2x(x-2)+2*3(x-2)
Simplified to 2x(x-2)+6(x-2)
Factored to 2(x-2)(x+3)
Second part denominator :
Factored to x^2(x+3)-4(x+3)
Factored to (x+3)(x^2-4)
Factored to (x+3)(x+2)(x-2) also common denominator
Expanded x(x+2)(x-2)+3(x+2)(x-2) also simplified
Factored to (x+2)(x-2)(x+3) also simplified
Now the answer I got was 2x(x-2)+6(x-2) over (x-2)(x+3)(x+2). Was this problem done correctly and is it simplified?

Question 152886: Ok this is my problem. Since I don't have a "radical" key on my computer, I'm going to type it the way it would be said. Its 81x to the 4th, y to the 20th, all under a radical, raised to the 4th power. Help would be greatly appreciated ...I can't remember how to do these kinds of problems at all. thank you, sarah.
