Question 144808: When I use the formula T^2/R^3 (Kepler's third law). The only variable given in the problem is the variable for R (which is 0.723 Astronomical Units). When I replace the R with that factor. How can I solve the equation. I tried setting it equal to 0 but that is going to make the answer 0. In case you cannot find the problem, I am indicating it here:
#108) If the average radius of the orbit of Venus is 0.723 AU, then how many years does it take for Venuis to complete one orbit of the sun? Use the information in Exercise 107
FOR REFERENCE #107)Kepler's third law.
According to Kepler's third law of planetary motion, the ration T^2/R^3 has the same value for every planet in our solar system. R is the average radius of the orbit of the planet measured in astronomical units (AU), and T is the number of years it takes for one complete orbit of the sun.

Question 146097: (x-6x sq root x)=0 Solve for x
In response to an inquiry -I was told to "use the conjugate". After yet another inquiry, I was given:
(x-6x sq root x)(x+6x sq root x)=0(x+6x sq root x)
= x squared -36xsquaredx and told to solve by factoring it out. I understand the conjugate part (kind of) but I've never seen -36xsquaredx! How do I factor this out?
By the way, I know the answer is {0,1/36} and I still can't figure it out.
This is an online course. I have searched the book and cannot find a sample of this problem anywhere.

Question 146186: Thank you for allowing me to ask a question. My instructions say:
Simplify
What I've tried:
I broke 4 square root 8 down to 4 square root 2 times 2 times 2,
multiplied 6 over the square root 2 by square root 2 over square root 2,
this gave me 8 square root 2 minus 2 times 3 square root 2 over 2,
which I then croseed out the 2 over 2 and am left with 8 square root 2 minus 3 square root 2.
I believe my answer is 5 square root 2.
Thanks for any input!!

Question 146301: The expression (Sqrt of x + Sqrt of y)^2 is not equal to x+y for every nonnegative x and y.
1. Why is this?
2. How do I find a value of x and y for which this is true, that is (sqrt of x + sqrt of y)^2 = x + y. (Also, what is this value?)
Thank you for your time and help with this question, I hope it is clear enough to understand.)
This question is not from a text book, it is from a worksheet.

Question 146486: Use quotient rule to divide and simplify.
Sqrt (128x^9) / sqrt (2x)
Sqrt of 128x^9 divided by sqrt of 2x.
I solved the problem but I am unsure how to write the solution. The sqrt of 128x^9 = 8x^4..... and the sqrt of 2x = 2x. I do not know how to write the solution.
Thanks!
