Question 27418: I was asked to solve for (v) in terms of the other variables. Please help?
T= To/sqrt(1-v^2/c)
If you know the solution please explain. I was told this was Einstein's special theory of relativity
T= starship = 8 hrs (passed)
To= me on Earth = 4 hrs (passed)
c= the speed of light =186,000 miles per second

Question 29056: To estimate how long a thunderstorm will last, meteorologist can use the formula t= square root of d^3 over 216, where t is the time in hours and d is the diameter of the storm in miles.
1) A thunderstorm is 8 miles in diameter. Estimate how long the storm will last. Give your answer in simplified form and as a decimal(homework asked this, not me)
2) Will a thunderstorm twice this diameter last twice as long?Explain.

Question 29173: x^1/3 multiplied by x^5/2, divided by x^-1/5
-- the directions on the problem say "simplify the expression. Express the answer so that only positive exponents occur. Assume that all variables are positive when they appear."
Thank you! Kim

Question 29836: The function f(x)= 29x to the 1/3 models the number of plant species, f(x), on the islands of the Galopagos in terms of the area, x, in square miles, of a particular island. Use the function to solve:
What is the area of a Galapagos Island that has 58 species of plants.
Can you get me started here? I have no idea of even where to begin.
Thanks in advance.
