Question 79449: Please help me with this geometry word problem with square roots.
Find the area of the rectangle with this measurements:
Top side of the rectangle is: sqrt3 + sqrt5
right side of the rectangle is: sqrt3 + sqrt5
Again, the problem is to find the area of the rectangle.
Thank you so much for your help.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
To solve this we first need to invoke the formula for the area of a rectangle.
area = length * width
or
area = a*b
We know that one side is sqrt%283%29%2Bsqrt%285%29, and the same goes for the other side. Hence we get:
a+=+sqrt%283%29%2Bsqrt%285%29
and
b+=+sqrt%283%29%2Bsqrt%285%29
Now all we need to do is to multiply a together with b, including the WHOLE expression and setting it in parentheses.
As we may see here:
area+=+a%2Ab+=+%28sqrt%283%29%2Bsqrt%285%29%29%2A%28sqrt%283%29%2Bsqrt%285%29%29
Continuing, we need to multiply each element in the first parenthesis with all the elements in the second. We then get:

I hope this clarified things for you.
