Question 78584: this is in an advanced radical equation/multible radical assignment.
this is the problem im trying to solve:
+sqrt%28+s-16+%29+%2B+sqrt%28+s+%29+=+4+
this is what i have so far:
+sqrt%28+s-16+%29+%2B+sqrt%28+s+%29+=+4+ :
subtract +sqrt%28+s+%29+ from both sides :
+sqrt%28+s-16+%29+=+4+-+sqrt%28+s+%29+ :
to get ride of the square root i use it on both sides :
+sqrt%28+s-16+%29+=+sqrt%28+4+-+sqrt%28+s+%29+%29+
then the right side of the equal sign shows :
+%28+4-sqrt%28+s+%29+%29%28+4+-sqrt%28+s+%29%29+ =
+s-16+=+16-sqrt4%28+s+%29-sqrt4%28+s+%29%2Bsqrt2%28+s+%29+
and this is where i get stuck. How do i solve for the next step?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You could try this:
sqrt%28s-16%29+%2B+sqrt%28s%29+=+4 Subtractsqrt%28s%29 from both sides.
sqrt%28s-16%29+=+4-sqrt%28s%29 Now square both sides.
s-16+=+16-8sqrt%28s%29%2Bs Subtract s from both sides.
-16+=+16-8sqrt%28s%29 Subtract 16 from both sides.
-32+=+-8sqrt%28s%29 Divide both sides by -8.
4+=+sqrt%28s%29 Finally, square both sides.
16+=+s
Check:
sqrt%28s-16%29+%2B+sqrt%28s%29+=+4 Substitute s = 16
sqrt%2816-16%29+%2B+sqrt%2816%29+=+4
sqrt%280%29+%2B+sqrt%2816%29+=+4
4+=+4
