Generally understood to be sqrt%2816x%5E4%29 "The square root of:"
Factor inside the radical to reveal perfect squares
sqrt%284%2A4%2Ax%5E2%2Ax%5E2%29
Extract the square root of those perfect squares you have
2*2*x*x which is: 4x^2
