Question 699653: What is:

+sqrt%28x-6%29+-+sqrt%28x%29+=+3+
I have tried:
+sqrt%28x-6%29+=+3+%2B+sqrt%28x%29+
FOIL:
+3%2Bsqrt%28x%29+%2A+3+%2Bsqrt%28x%29+ = +9+%2B+6sqrt%28x%29+%2B+x+
plug in:
+x+-+6+=+9+%2B+6sqrt%28x%29+%2B+x+
+-15+=+6sqrt%28x%29+
divide:
??
What am I doing wrong?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
+sqrt%28x-6%29+-+sqrt%28x%29+=+3+
I don't think there is a solutions here, but plunging ahead anyway.
:
+sqrt%28x-6%29+=+3+%2B+sqrt%28x%29+
square both sides, you only FOIL the right,
squaring the left gives you x - 6
x - 6 = 9+%2B+6sqrt%28x%29+%2B+x
combine like terms on the left
x - x - 6 - 9 = 6sqrt%28x%29
-15 = 6sqrt%28x%29
square both sides again
225 = 36x
x = 225/36
x = 6.25, however if you substitute this in the original problem it does not work
the problem has no solution
