The number inside the radical is called the radicand.
Separate the radicand into two factors. Let one of
those factors be the largest possible perfect square
that divides the radicand. Then remove the sqrt
of that perfect square factor from inside the radical.
Example:
sqrt(48) = sqrt(16*3) = 4sqrt3
