Question 687687: to be considered safe for ocean sailing, the capsize screening value C should be less than 2. for a boat with a beam (or width) b in feet and displacement b in pounds, C is determined by the function. C=4d^(-1/3)b.
a) find the capsize screening value for the tartan 4100, which has a displacement of 23,245 and a beam of 13.5 feet
C=4d^(-1/3) b
C=4(24245)^(-1/3) (13.5)
C=4(.035)(13.5)
C=.14(13.5)
C=1.89
B) solve this formula for d. ( i dont get this part can you help me please.)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I think what they are asking you is to assume you don't know what d is, and find d , given that C=1.89212828 and b=13.5.
