The index of a radical is the integer placed in upper left of the radical sign (if none, then 2 is assumed = sqrt sign).
That same integer is also in the denominator of a fractional exponent.
E.g., a radical sign with a 5 in that upper left space and containing
x^7 is the same as x^(7/5)
