You can put this solution on YOUR website!
sqrt%28x+%2B+3%29+=+-5
Square both sides in order to get rid of the square root: %28sqrt%28x+%2B+3%29%29%5E2+=+%28-5%29%5E2
Simplify: x + 3 = 25
Subtract 3 from both sides: x = 22
CHECK SOLUTION (VITAL for these types of problems):
sqrt%28x+%2B+3%29+=+-5
sqrt%2822+%2B+3%29+=+-5
sqrt%2825%29+=+-5
5 = -5
This is FALSE (technically, sqrt%2825%29 could be seen as -5, but commonly--in order to avoid confusion--this square root is used to denote the positive square root, and -sqrt%2825%29 would be used to denote -5).
Therefore, there is NO SOLUTION to this problem.
