# 1

2%28x-7%29%5E%281%2F3%29%5E%22%22+%2B5+=+7

2%28x-7%29%5E%281%2F3%29%5E%22%22+=+7-5

2%28x-7%29%5E%281%2F3%29%5E%22%22+=+2

%28x-7%29%5E%281%2F3%29%5E%22%22+=+2%2F2

%28x-7%29%5E%281%2F3%29%5E%22%22+=+1

root%283%2Cx-7%29+=+1

x-7+=+1%5E3

x-7+=+1

x+=+1%2B7

x+=+8

So the solution is x+=+8

# 2

2x%5E%281%2F2%29%5E%22%22++%2B8+=+0+

2x%5E%281%2F2%29%5E%22%22++=+-8+

x%5E%281%2F2%29%5E%22%22++=+-4+

sqrt%28x%29+=+-4+

Recall that the range of the square root function is nonnegative. So the last equation is NOT possible. So there are NO solutions to the last equation.

Because the set of equations above are all equivalent, this means that there are NO solutions to the equation 2x%5E%281%2F2%29+%2B8+=+0+

To move the 5 from the left side of the equation to the right side of the equation add -5 to both sides of the equation
2(x-7)^1/3 + 5 + -5 = 7-5
2(x-7)^1/3 = 2
(x-7)^1/3 = 1
now we simply raise each side of the equation to the power 3 and get
((x-7)^1/3)^3 = 1^3
x-7 = 1
x = 1+7
x=8

to solve 2x^1/2 + 8 = 0 is similar.
