I'm thinking you meant
3x(x-4)=0
If so, we look at it like this...
We are multiplying two things and we get zero.
The ONLY way that can happen is if one or both of the things ARE zero.
Therefore
3x = 0 or x - 4 = 0
Thus x = 0 or x = 4
