Note: The general vertex form of a parabola, y=a%28x-h%29%5E2+%2Bk (h,k) is the vertex
completing the square to put into the vertex form of a parabola
y = x^2 - 3x -4
y = x^2 - 3x + 9/4 - 9/4 -4
vertex form is:
y =1*(x - 3/2)^2 - 25/4
Vertex is (3/2, - 25/4) a>0 Therefore parabola opens upward and vertex is the Minimum
y intercept is Pt(0,-4)
