A radical expression is an expression containing a square root.
You would use a radical expression in a problem to find the root of a number.
For example:
The square root of 9 is 3 because 3*3=9 or 3^2=9
The square root of 4 is 2 because 2*2=4 or 2^2=4
The square root of 54 is the square root of 9*6. Now, since the 9 has a perfect square which is 3*3 you would take the square root of nine and your answer would be 3 square root of 6
