Question 188408: I have tried and tried these problems. I am in ninth grade and here is the question: when a skydiver jumped from an airplane, the time it takes to free fall a given distance can be estimated by the formula t= the square root of 2s/9.8, where t is in seconds and s is in meters. If Julie jumps from an airplane, how long will it take her to free fall 750 meters?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Is this the formula:
t+=+sqrt%282s%2F9.8%29? If so,
t is in seconds and s is in meters.
How long will it take her to free fall 750 meters?
t+=+sqrt%282%2A750%2F9.8%29
t+=+sqrt%281500%2F9.8%29
t+=+sqrt%28153.06%29
t+=+12.37 sec
It will take her 12.37 sec to fall 750 m
------------------
check answer:
t+=+sqrt%282s%2F9.8%29
12.37+=+sqrt%282s%2F9.8%29
square both sides
153.06+=+2s%2F9.8
Multiply both sides by 9.8
2s+=+9.8%2A153.06
Divide both sides by 2
s+=+1500%2F2
s+=+750 m
OK
