Assuming that you mean sqrt%28x-2%29+-8=0, let's just graph it and see where it crosses the x axis. You can assume because of the square root that x+%3E=+2. That point is the value of x that is the solution for this equation:
graph+%28600%2C300%2C+2%2C100%2C-10%2C10%2C+sqrt%28x-2%29-8%29+

The normal graph for x from -10 to 10 will NOT work here. You will also have to use a fairly large value of x, like maybe up to x=100 to be able to see where the graph crosses the x axis. It turns out that x= 66 is the value that works, so this is the solution. X=66, and it checks also!
