Question 143528: I just want to make sure I have the right answer, if I don't could you please explain the steps to me.
Problem---Find the area of a rectangle whose width is √2 and whose length is √40. Show your work. Write “Sqrt” to show √.
Here is my answer
Sqrt2 X Sqrt40 = Sqrt80
Sqrt80 = sqrt64 X 16
Sqrt 64 X 16 = 8 sqrt16
Area = 8 sqrt16

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A=L%2AW Start with the area formula

A=sqrt%282%29%2Asqrt%2840%29 Plug in L=sqrt%282%29 and sqrt%2840%29

A=sqrt%282%2A40%29 Combine the square roots

A=sqrt%2880%29 Multiply

A=sqrt%2816%2A5%29 Factor 80 into 16*5

A=sqrt%2816%29%2Asqrt%285%29 Break up the square root

A=4%2Asqrt%285%29

So the area is A=4%2Asqrt%285%29
