Question 139841: Hi. I am working with rational expressions and I am sure how to answer these two questions. I hope someone can help me. Thank you so very much the
Simplify the rational expression:
2x^2 – 12x + 18/ 2x^2 - 18
Divide:
x^2 – 9x + 20/3x - 15 ÷ x^2 – 16/9x + 36

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(2x^2–12x+18)/(2x^2-18) I presume that is the problem properly stated???
2(x^2-6x+9)/2(x^2-9) now cancel out the 2 terms
(x^2-6x+9)/(x^2-9)
(x-3)(x-3)/(x+3)(x-3) now cancel out the (x-3) terms
(x-3)/(x+3) answer.
-------------------------------------------------------------
(x^2–9x+20)/(3x-15)÷(x^2–16)/(9x+36) I presume that is the problem properly stated????
factor all elements, invert the second fraction & divide them.
(x-4)(x-5)/3(x-5) now cancel out the (x-5), the (x+4), the (x-4) terms & divide the 9 by 3.
3 is the answer.
