hypotenuse: c = 27
one leg: a = 11 times the square root of 5. Correct?
other leg: b
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pythagoras says: a^2 + b^2 = c^2
Since we want to know b, we subtract a^2 from both sides:
a^2 - a^2 + b^2 = c^2 - a^2
This leaves us with:
b^2 = c^2 - a^2
Now use your numbers:
b^2 = 27^2 - 24.6^2
b^2 = 123.84
now take the square root of both sides:
b = 11.13
