x - 2*sqrt(x) - 6 = 0

This is a quardatic with variable sqrt(x)

Using the quadratic formula you get:
sqrt(x) = [2 +- sqrt[4-4*-6]/2

sqrt(x) = [2+- sqrt(28)]/2

sqrt(x) = [1 +- sqrt(7)]

x = (1+sqrt(7))^2 or x = (1-sqrt(7))^2

x-2%2Asqrt%28x-3%29=3
FIRST, solve the the variable square root expression; and then continue...

-2sqrt%28x-3%29=3-x

sqrt%28x-3%29=%28x-3%29%2F2
and now square both sides...

4%28x+-+3%29+=+9+-+6x+%2B+x%5E2 ------ Squaring both sides of equation

4x+-+12+=+9+-+6x+%2B+x%5E2

x%5E2+-+6x+%2B+9+-+4x+%2B+12+=+0

x%5E2+-+10x+%2B+21+=+0

(x - 7)(x - 3) = 0
