SOLUTION: Rationalize the denominator
(√ 7)/(√ 3+2)
I got as far as
(√ 7)/(√ 3+2) * (√ 3-2)/(√ 3-2)
[(√ 7)(√ 3+2)]/(√ 3)^2-(2)^2

Question 1058454: Rationalize the denominator
(√ 7)/(√ 3+2)
I got as far as
(√ 7)/(√ 3+2) * (√ 3-2)/(√ 3-2)
[(√ 7)(√ 3+2)]/(√ 3)^2-(2)^2
[(√ 7)(√ 3+2)]/3+4
[(√ 7*√3)-(2√2)]/7
[(√21)-(2√2)]/7
My book is saying that the answer is (√21)-(2√2) Without a denominator. Did I do something wrong or is the book wrong (it's been wrong before). Found 3 solutions by Fombitz, Alan3354, Edwin McCravy:Answer by Fombitz(32388) (Show Source):
Looks like you made a sign error, 3+4 should have been 3-4.
Multiply the bottoms using FOIL
Use FOIL in the denominator:
[That was where you made your error]
Yes the book is wrong!
