This is what I've come up with, but I"m not sure if it's correct:
√((-1-(-9) )^2+(0-(-8))^2)
8^2 + 8^2
64 + 64
128
Any help is greatly appreciated!

You're doing great. Now you need to take the square root of that to get sqrt%28128%29+=+sqrt%2864%2A2%29+=+sqrt%2864%29%2Asqrt%282%29+=+8%2Asqrt%282%29

So the exact diameter is 8%2Asqrt%282%29 units

Use a calculator to find that 8%2Asqrt%282%29+=+11.3137084989848

Exact Diameter = 8%2Asqrt%282%29 units
Approximate Diameter = 11.3137084989848 units

You forgot to mention in your post that these points are endpoints of the diameter of the circle.

Without this info the solution is not unique.
