Question 540637: Rather confused about what's going on here. My book doesn't offer an explanation on what I should do with this type of set up.
Write an equation for each ellipse.
"foci at (-3,-3), (7,-3); the point (2,-7) on ellipse"

Question 539802: Hi I am trying to figure out how to find the equation of a circle if the center is (4,4) and it passes through (-5,0)
I know there is an equation that goes with this where you subtract and ^2 power 4-(-5)^2 and (0-4)^2, but that is about all I have figured out & am not sure if it is correct. Thank you for your help.

Question 541583: Cousin and i tried working on this at 2pm an no luck.
write each equation of each hyperbola.
vertices (5,0) and (-5,0); focus (7,0)
We started by graphing the points, its Horizontal so we came to the conclusion that its (x-h)^2/ a^2 - (y-k)^2/ b^2 = 1

Question 542145: Please help me with this problem:
How do I put the following in standard form??
y^2-6y+16x+25=0
I know it is a parabola because only one variable is squared and I know that it opens vertically because the y is what is squared. I know the standard form of the parabola is (x-h)=(1/4p)((y-2)^2) but i dont know how to get it there.
this is what i tried:
y^2-6y+16x+25=0
(y^2-6y+___ )+16x=-25+__ I am completing the square
(y^2-6y+9)+16x=-25+9
(y-3)^2+16x=-16
well now i am stuck becasue if i didvide by sixteen i lose the x coefficient. I have been sitting here stairing at the problem for like 30min hoping the answer would come to me but no such luck!!
If you can explain this problem to me I would highly appreciate it!! Thank You!!

Question 542528: I have to find the vertex, axis of symmetry, minimum or maximum value, and range of the parabola. the formula is y=ax^2+bx+c
Question: y=2x^2-6x+3
What i have so far:
y=2x^2-6x+3
-b/2a=-(-6)/2(2)=6/4=3/2
y=2(3/2)^2-6(3/2)+3
2(9/4)-(-18)/2
I am stuck, I'm not sure if im doing it right but if you could help explain it to me that would be awsome! thank you!
