Hi dear,
%28y-k%29%5E%282%29=%284%2Aa%29%2A%28x-h%29 is the equation of a parabola.
since the parabola pass through the (7,1),
then substitute the point in the equation above.
%281-5%29%5E%282%29=%284%2Aa%29%2A%287-2%29
a=4/5
Also the standard equation of a parabola is given by
%28y-k%29%5E%282%29=%284%2Aa%29%2A%28x-h%29
where (h,k) is the coordinate of it's vertice.
If a=4/5
(h,k)=(2,5)
substitute the above in the standard equation and get
%28y-5%29%5E2=%2816%2F5%29%2A%28%28x-2%29%2F1%29
