Question 742851: Write the equation of the ellipse with foci of (2,6) and (2,-18) and minor axis of 10.
Answer by josgarithmetic(39620) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Half the distance from (2,6) to (2,-18) is the value, 'c'. The minor axis being length 10 means that half of that distance, 5, is the value for 'b'. The y value directly between (exact middle of) 6 and -18 is the y value for the center point, being (2, -12), which is also the academically described point usually called (h,k).
