Hi,
y = 12x + 4 - x^2. |putting into the general order...
y = ax^2 + bx + 4
y = -x^2 + 12x + 4 |putting into Vertex Form y+=+a%28x-h%29%5E2+%2B+k by completing the Square
y = -(x-6)^2 + 36 + 4
y = -(x-6)^2 + 40 V(6,40)
If You are having difficulty completing the Square, this short-cut may help:
h+=+-b%2F2a+=+-12%2F-2+=+6
k+=+c+-+%28b%5E2%2F4a%29+=+4+-144%2F-4+=+40
