Write the conic in standard form:

y^2-10y-4x+57=0

(y^2-10y + 25) -25 -4x +57 = 0

(y-5)^2 +32 = 4x

 x = (1/4)(y-5)^2 +8

Standard Form:

 (y-5)^2 = 4(x-8)



the vertex form of a parabola opening right or left, x=a%28y-k%29%5E2+%2Bh where(h,k) is the vertex.

The standard form is %28y+-k%29%5E2+=+4p%28x+-h%29, where  the focus is (h +p,k )
