Divide every term by 4 to get x%5E2-y%5E2%2F4=1. The equation is now in the form of a hyperbola since the general hyperbola equation is %28x-h%29%5E2%2F%28a%5E2%29-%28y-k%29%5E2%2Fb%5E2=1
