The vertex of the parabola whose equation is the quadratic function

%22f%28x%29%22=ax%5E2%2Bbx%2Bc

is the point (-b%2F%282a%29, f(-b%2F%282a%29))

and the axis of symmetry has the equation

x=-b%2F%282a%29.  The vertex point is ON the axis of symmetry.
