Question 196700: Identify the conic section represented by each equation. For a parabola give the vertex. For a circle give the center and radius. For an ellipse or a hyperbola give the center and foci.
(1) x^2+y^2-4x+2y+1=0
I found that the equation would be (x-2)^2 + (y+1)^2=4
This would be a circle
The center would be (2, -1)
The raidus would be 2
(2)x^2-4x-y+7=0
I found that the equation would be y=(x-2)^2 + 7
This is a parabola
The vertex is at (7,2)
Is this correct?
I'm not quite sure if I am doing these right...
