You can put this solution on YOUR website!

a) Find the x intercepts for the parabola y = x2 – 6x + 5.

Set y=0:
x%5E2-6x%2B5=0
%28x-5%29%28x-1%29=0
X-Intercepts: red%28x=5%29; red%28x=1%29

b) Find the vertex of the parabola y = - 2x2 + 8x + 4

By Formula, h=-b%2F2a;wheresystem%28a=-2%2Cb=8%2Cc=4%29

h=-8%2F%282%2A-2%29=-8%2F-4=red%282%29
*Remember h=red%28x=2%29

Substitute x=2 to our eqn:
y=-2%282%29%5E2%2B8%282%29%2B4
y=-2%284%29%2B16%2B4
y=-8%2B20
red%28y=12%29

Vertex (2,12)
