Question 1167286: A router is in the library of the university which is 1.5 meters away from a student lounge. The range of the router, which services the WIFI connection of the university, has a diameter of 3.5 meters, with it as the center. Can students staying in the lounge connect to the said WIFI?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the router is in the library and has a range that has a diameter of 3.5 meters.

the student lounge is 1.5 meters from the router.

a range with a diameter of 3.5 meters has a radius of 3.5/2 meters from the router in all directions.

the range of the router is therefore 1.75 meters.

since the lounge is 1.5 meters away, then the lounge is in the range of the router and the students staying in the lounge can connect to the wifi.

this is what it looks like on a graph.

the black circle represents the range of the router with a radius of 1.75 meters.

the red circle represents the radius of the possible location of the lounge with a radius of 1.5 meters.

anywhere on the black circle will be 1.5 meters from the router.

anywhere on the red circle will be 1.75 meters from the router.

what this says is that all the possible locations of the lounge, that are 1.5 meters from the router, are within the range of the router.
