The longer axis is vertical.  The longer semi-axis is 12 units long.


The shorter axis is horizontal.  The shorter semi-axis is 6 units long.


The canonical equation of the ellipse is


    x%5E2%2F6%5E2 + y%5E2%2F12%5E2 = 1,

or

    x%5E2%2F36 + y%5E2%2F144 = 1.
