You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I have friend that is trying to quiz me and I can't figure this out "Write an equation for the ellipse with vertices (-6,1), (2,1), (-2,0), and (-2,2)." Your help is greatly appreciated
-------
Plot those four vertices.
Horizontal axis:: (-6,1) to (2,1) :: center at (-6+2)/2 = -2:: length = 8
Semi-major axis = 4
------
Vertical axis:: (-2,0) to (-2,2) :: center at (0+2)/2 = 1:: length = 2
Semi-minor axis = 1
---
Center of the ellipse:: (-2,1)
-----
Equation::
(x+2)^2/4^2 + (y-1)^2/1^2 = 1
--------
(x+2)^2/16 + (y-1)^2 = 1
---------------------------------
