Question 916999: Calculate the length of one of the sides of a right angled triangle using the Pythagorean theorem. What is the length of side B of the triangle in which side A=6cm and side C=10cm ?
C squared= A squared + B squared
I keep trying numbers but can't get any to add up equally without being a decimal & having to use every number after it.
Help please?

Question 921845: So I received this question, and have no clue how to answer it:
2 legs of a right triangle are in the ratio 5:6. The hypotenuse is 2 radical 61 meters long. If the longer of the two legs is doubled and the shorter remains the same, what is the length of the new hypotenuse. I don't even really want an answer, but just steps in the right direction. Thanks

Question 930222: I've already solved the problem it's just that I don't understand how that Is the answer.
The question was
A right triangle has sides of 8ft. And 12 ft.. Find the hypotenuse.
Which I did
8^2+12^2=c^2
64+144=c^2
square root 208= square root c^2
14.4ft. = c
But I don't get how it ended up as 14.4ft.

Question 933446: A right triangle has a hypotenuse of 41. All of its sides add up to 49. Find the length of the legs of the right triangle.
I made these two equations based on the problem: a + b + 41 = 49, a^2 + b^2 = 41^2
I tried to solve for both a and b on the first equation. I was left with a = 8-b and b = 8-a. I substituted those into the Pythagorean theorem equation and got (8-b)^2 + (8-a)^2 = 1681. I extended the equation and got 64-16b+b^2 + 64-16a+a^2 = 1681. I reduced it to 128-16b+b^2+16a+a^2 = 1681 by adding the coefficients. I then subtracted 128 on both sides and got -16b+b^2+16a+a^2 = 1553. That's where I was stuck. I wasn't sure what to do. What is the correct approach to solve this problem?

Question 934734: Suppose a player hits a ball from point A at an angle of 45 degrees on a pool table that measure 9’ by 4.5’ as shown. How many times will the ball hit a side of the table before going into a pocket? If a player hits the ball at the same angle but the table measures 9’ by 6’, how many times will it hit a side? (Hint: Try making a scale drawing.)
